Dear colleagues, we are preparing a RUTF taste testing questionnaire for children. Any feedback, comments or tips from your side are very welcome: your observations and experiences on RUTF from children's perspective as well as sharing sources and samples of taste testing questionnaires for kids. Thank you.
Hello, UNHCR published an operational guidance on the use of special nutritional products to reduce micronutrient deficiencies and malnutrition in refugee populations, and they have an interesting section on acceptability tests. They present in annex some models of questionnaires to be adapted according to the context and objectives. Here is the URL: http://info.refugee-nutrition.net/operation-guidance-on-use-of-fsp. Caution: the guide does not focus on RUTF but rather on food supplementation products. However it may inspire you. From a practical viewpoint, I would suggest that if you complete interviews by direct observations, i.e., to record the child's reaction when he/she tastes the product, try to detail as much as possible how you want this to be done when writing the methodology/protocol, so observations can be as standardised as possible and really useful at the end of the exercise. This of course requires a solid training, coaching and supervision of your data collectors but at least the risk of being frustrated at the end with useless data will strongly decrease. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Thank you muchly for the replies and useful links. I just would like to add that the questionnaire we are planning to elaborate is intended to assess Korean children's preferences, for the development of a product which is most palatable for these children.

Dear Anna, It depends why you are doing the taste testing. If it is a new recipe RUTF there is a method to test for acceptability and safety that is described in this article. http://www.cmamforum.org/Pool/Resources/Acceptability-of-novel-RUTF-Dibari-et-al-2012.pdf
