I was approached by a student who wants to write his Master thesis around the integration of acute malnutrition into iCCM (services of acute malnutrition to be delivered at community level). Do you have any ideas on existing research gaps/questions around this topic that would be worthwile to explore/answer (w/o fieldbased research), especially for NGOs working in this field? Thank you!
Kris, There is a recent review of evidence on just this topic, funded by CIFF, Save the Children and ACF: Linking Nutrition and (Integrated) Community Case Management (iCCM/CCM): A Review of Operational Experiences It references several pertinent studies in this area, some linked below focusing on an iCCM intervention in Bangladesh: Quality of care for severe acute malnutrition delivered by community health workers in southern Bangladesh Community Case Management of Severe Acute Malnutrition in Southern Bangladesh Does greater workload lead to reduced quality of preventive and curative care among community health workers in Bangladesh? ‘Sometimes they fail to keep their faith in us’: community health worker perceptions of structural barriers to quality of care and community utilisation of services in Bangladesh Cost-effectiveness of the community-based management of severe acute malnutrition by community health workers in southern Bangladesh I hope your student finds these useful.

Hi Kris Building on Chloe's comments: the newly created Nutrition Subgroup of the CCM Task Force would be happy to connect with you/your student to discuss opportunities for field research. Feel free to get in touch s.guerrero@actionagainsthunger.org.uk Hope that is helpful S
