Most nutritional anthropometry surveys use a two-stage cluster-sampled approach (e.g. 30-by-30 and SMART). Recently there has been the development of a method called LQAS. I am interested to hear of any experience with the LQAS method. I am also interested if anyone has used alternative ways of estimating prevalence such as using (e.g.) mean WHZ and its standard deviation and alternative sampling methods.

WFP is indeed interested to test the new sampling methods and to apply the methodology to emergency food security assessments (EFSAs) which intend to collect nutritional data. This serves the dual purpose of smaller sample sizes in WFP EFSAs which are traditionally not statistically representative, with the statistical representativity preferred for reporting nutrition data. The process of applying the methodology could take some time but I will keep the forum updated when there are any results to share.
