Biographie

Biruk Tadesse is a seasoned expert in nutrition and public health, with over 11 years of experience in Emergency Nutrition. He holds a master's degree in nutrition and has a strong background in public health. Biruk currently serves as a Senior National Emergency Nutrition Specialist at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the country’s response to public health emergencies.

Biruk is recognized globally for his expertise, being a vetted member of the Global Nutrition Cluster for Nutrition Information Systems and UNICEF’s Eastern and Southern Africa Region Rapid Response Mechanism for Nutrition Information Systems. His international work includes conducting Nutrition SMART Surveys in Northern Darfur State, Sudan, and leading SMART+ surveys in Ethiopia’s Somali and Afar regions.

With over seven years of experience in humanitarian settings and four years in a national managerial role, Biruk has developed strong leadership and collaborative skills. He is a key member of Ethiopia's multi-agency Nutrition Task Force and the Nutrition Information System Technical Working Group. His extensive experience includes coordinating national multi-sectoral health and nutrition assessments and providing training in various emergency nutrition methodologies.
