We are looking for an experienced Nutrition Advisor to join our Emergency Health Unit and play a key part in our humanitarian department by helping us to respond effectively to emergencies worldwide. You will be joining a high performing team focused on delivering high quality health and nutrition interventions in some of the hardest places to work, where the needs for children are greatest.

As the Nutrition Advisor for the EHU, you will be deployed to the field as the lead nutritionist within the EHU team, and will be responsible for the successful delivery of high quality nutrition interventions integrated into the health response. You will:

Provide technical leadership for emergency nutrition/multi-sectoral assessments, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of children’s needs;
Prepare and oversee nutrition programme implementation to ensure timely delivery of programme activities;
Ensure the nutrition programme is integrated with the health and WASH programmes, with a specific focus on the integration of infant and young child feeding in emergencies (IYCF-E);
Liaise at project level with country team, greater SC humanitarian response and together with the country nutrition lead and teams, Ministry of Health and nutrition cluster contribute to effective integration and exit strategies.
Work closely with the HR team, identify nutrition staffing needs (national) and ensure rapid recruitment, induction and training of new staff.
Supervise the nutrition staff, to ensure the maximum use of their skills and their full and effective participation in project site and to monitor the quality of care in the stabilisation centres and outpatient therapeutic programmes and other nutrition activities.
Identify ongoing training needs and capacity gaps of the EHU teams and nutrition staff in country, provide relevant training and associate with partner organisations to improve performance.

All members of our EHU teams are available and ready to be deployed anywhere in the world at short notice. You will normally work unusual hours, undertake a lot of travel (up to 80% of the time) and will often work in stressful and insecure environments.

In return, you will receive 35 days Annual Leave per year, medical insurance while on deployment, travel and accommodation provided for, paid R&R, gross salary paid from UK plus hardship allowance, complexity allowance and expensive posting allowance where applicable.
