Title Nutrition Adviser
Location Niger, Niamey
Length of Assignment 3 months (extendable)
Assignment Purpose:
Save the Children implements CMAM programmes in 3 regions in Niger ( Zinder, Maradi, Diffa). The Niger mission faces currently severe gaps in term of human resources and needs support to be able to ensure the implementation and the quality of its nutrition programmes.
The Nutrition Adviser will be based in Niamey and will support the nutrition team on the following main aspects: donors reporting, relation with stakeholders at Niamey level, and other support of the nutrition teams on the field, as required.
Objectives and Outputs:
• In charge of timely programme and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal SC requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
• Ensure relation with different stakeholders at Niamey level.
• Follow up on timely implementation of nutrition activities according to work plans
• Act as the focal point for nutrition related questions at Niamey level,
• Ensure staff training if required
• Work in collaboration with the nutrition teams to propose actions plans to ensure a good programme quality. Ensure that these actions plan are put in place.
• To ensure integration (where appropriate) with other sectors, especially looking to strengthen the links between health programmes and nutrition, WASH.
Essential Competencies:
• Nutrition professional with postgraduate qualification or equivalent field experience
• Previous experience of managing a team
• Previous experience of project management (notably report writing)
• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
• Excellent communication skills
• Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
• A good level of written and spoken English and working French
Desirable
• Experience in health programmes
