Valid International is convening two sets of 2-day workshops on coverage assessment methods on the 27th to the 28th of March 2012 and 29th to the 30th of March 2012 respectively. The first workshop is aimed at mid-level managers and technicians particularly (but not limited to) those based at headquarters of international non-governmental organisations. The second workshop is intended for donors / funders and United Nations organisations. The workshops will be held at Jesus College, University of Oxford. The workshop aims to make participants aware and have a basic understanding of the various coverage assessment methods currently being used such as SQUEAC, SLEAC and S3M allowing them to make more informed decisions on planning and budgeting for appropriate coverage methods for their programmes in different countries. The workshop is not meant to train participants on how to conduct coverage assessments. Each workshop is limited to 20-25 participants. Registration will start on the 2nd of January 2012. For further information and / or to signify your interest, visit the workshop webpage at http://www.validinternational.org/coverage.

The workshop on coverage assessment methods is but one of many initiatives and efforts that are currently being discussed, planned and soon to be undertaken by various organisations and agencies that consider the assessment of programme coverage to be an important endeavour. These different initiatives are meant to complement each other and address various needs such as training and cater for specific audiences including national government officials and staff. In due time, these other efforts will come to fruition and that the needs that you express will be addressed. A similar question has been raised in another form which might give you an idea of some of these initiatives. The question and the corresponding reply can be found at: http://www.en-net.org.uk/question/593.aspx

I was wondering if this workshop was recorded and was available for interested people. It was simply too expensive for some of us to attend...

I believe that there is a website (maintained by VALID International) with all materials and presentations. I don't have the IRL to hand. Someone at VALID or ENN should be able to post this.

We are pleased to share a new resource on coverage assessment methods. This can be accessed through the following link: http://www.validinternational.org/coverage This resource site provides all materials provided and discussed during the recently concluded Workshop on Coverage Assessment Methods held in Oxford. The same resource can be downloaded as a zip file which can be saved on your computer on a USB drive and accessed anytime even without being on the internet. This resource kit can be downloaded by clicking on this link: http://www.validinternational.org/coverage/resourcekit.zip Once downloaded, unzip the contents and you will get an HTML file named 'open_resource_kit.html' and a folder named 'workshop'. Save the contents on to your hard drive or your USB drive. Please ensure that the HTML is in the same directly as the folder. Open the HTML file by double-clicking and your default web browser will open and you will be able to access the contents of the resource kit even offline. The materials above are best viewed using Safari and Firefox web browsers. We are currently updating the materials to be optimised for Chrome and for Internet Explorer.
