Hello all,

How frequent should SMART survey be carried out?

NB. With regard to areas with high humanitarian crisis and those with low humanitarian crisis

What factors need to be considered?

To my knowledge twice a year. Before and after the lean season in order to make a comparative analysis of the results to carry out targeted interventions

Dear Anonymous_A_W_40:

Surveys, like any data collection exercise, are done in order to collect data to determine whether or not a program needs to be implemented or an existing program needs to be revised. In addition, the decision to carry out a survey must be made in the context of existing data from alternate sources, recent trends, and general conditions in the population to be assessed. Surveys are expensive and divert resources from other priorities; therefore, they should not be done unless they are necessary and the desired data cannot be collected using a simpler and cheaper method. Therefore, no simple algorithm or recommendation can provide an answer to your question. It is a matter of judgment by those stakeholders who will use the data from any survey considered.
