We run CMAM programming in Northern Ethiopia but at present there is unfortunately a complete stock out of RUTF and other nutrition commodities, and local markets do not have sufficient quantities of ingredients required for alternative RUTF recipes. We're therefore trying to maximise nutritional intake from locally available foods such as eggs, wheat flour and oil, in line with https://www.nutritioncluster.net/sites/nutritioncluster.com/files/2020-05/COVID 19 and Wasting Information Note 001_0.pdf. Interested to hear from anyone who has already researched locally acceptable and palatable recipes for CU5 with SAM in Northern Ethiopia.
Thanks for sharing this.
Sure, we need to look for local substitutes (inline with national and/or international guidelines in doing so) when there is stock-out of standard nutritional treatments (like RUTF).
As I understood from the attached document details, it seems that there is inconsistent and/or contradictory information. For example, the title states Wasting and COVID 19. However, the attached document mostly states supply chain related challenges as major concerns. Clarity please?
