Dear colleagues,
The Food and Nutrition Division (ESN) and the Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment (OCB) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture (GACSA) and the Scaling up Nutrition Movement (SUN) are organizing a side event at the pre-COP 26 hosted by the Italian government to highlight the importance and the need for solutions that concurrently address concerns related to climate change, biodiversity and nutrition.
The virtual dialogue will bring together food systems experts and leaders—from government representatives to civil society, youth, academia and business—to discuss and explore opportunities for collaborative partnerships that simultaneously address climate change, biodiversity and nutrition. As an immediate follow up of the UN Food Systems Summit, this event will set a pathway for upcoming events such as CBD COP, COP26 and the Nutrition for Growth Summit in Japan.
Objectives of the event:
Raise awareness of the importance of the linkages between climate change, biodiversity, and nutrition.
Provide first-hand accounts of innovations or innovative approaches that can simultaneously address the challenges of climate change, biodiversity and nutrition.
Foster cross-sectoral dialogue and collaboration to promote the development of synergistic solutions and transformative innovations in the agri-food systems.
