It's a very broad question, but basically, according to the SMART Methodology guidance (you can find it on www.smartmethodology.org), a good SMART survey is one:

-In which the objectives are specific, clear and measurable

-In which the survey methodology is well laid out

-In which training of enumerators is led by an experienced team

-In which the survey questionnaire and other tools are well prepared, translated, back translated and pre-tested

-In which all survey anthropometrists are subjected to a standardised test and pass thr test

-Which is conducted by a well trained and competent team

-In which data quality for anthropometric and other indicators meet the required standards

-In which data cleaning and analysis are conducted in a standard and structured way

-In which the report is finalised and disseminated timeously for use while results are still relevant

In general this question is a very broad and according to the SMART Survey Methodology guidance (www.smartmethodology.org), to carry or conduct a good SMART survey you must have the following in place :

*The SMART Survey objectives should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely.

*The training of enumerators is led by experienced survey experts/specialist team members of facilitators.

*The survey questionnaire and other tools are well organized and prepared, translated and pre-tested

*After the Training there should be standardisation test to all the enumerators to determine the best measurers, team leaders and assistants

*There should be a pilot test in the last day of the training to the partcipants; the real-world test of the excerise before they are sent out to the field.

*Which is conducted by a well trained and competent team

*The data quality for anthropometric, maternal, mortality, fsl and other indicators meet the required standards

*The data cleaning and analysis are conducted in a standard and structured way

*The preliminary and final report is finalised and disseminated in a timely manner for use while results are still relevant
