JOB TITLE: Program Manager – Nutrition Science

DEPARTMENT: Nutrition Science Program

REPORTS TO: Director, Nutrition Science

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Supports and facilitates working groups/task forces engaged in research (data analysis, program & policy delivery, acting as a project liaison between the Nutrition Science Program and experts, consultants, and if applicable, the donor agency.

Develops background scientific documentation using literature reviews and publicly available databases in relations to nutrition topics of interests with a focus on nutrition.

Identifies and solicits experts to join Scientific Organizing Committees and Technical Advisory Committees tasked with providing expertise to the Nutrition Science Program, and build a solid, professional relationship with these experts.

Provide information update and proactively research information and data related to the activities under his/her responsibility.

Manage the development of scientific convening from beginning through completion, including facilitating discussions of the Committees, helping craft a well-balanced and relevant scientific agenda; working with Academy’s support team on logistics, audio-visual set up, and communication

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition, the Program Manager will

Monitor, compile and consolidate information in nutrition science and policy related to the mission of the Nutrition Science Program.

Occasionally compile and analyze scientific data for presentations to Working Group members, reports, and articles.

In collaboration with the Development department, write grants and reports.

Work across programs of the Academy including Conference Center, Development, Communication, Marketing, and Annals.

Manage the dissemination of project outputs through post-meeting reports and manuscript for peer-review if applicable.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: PhD in the field of Nutrition or a Master of Science in epidemiology or public health with a nutrition focus and 4 years of experience in scientific settings

Experience

Experience working on one or more of the following: nutrition through the life cycle; nutrition in public health; nutrition in international development; micronutrient programs; maternal and child nutrition; obesity programs; nutrition and aging; nutrition program implementation; sustainable diets.

Competence in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

Experience in the execution of dedicated projects (e.g. working group, research initiatives), in managing complex partnerships from start to finish, and in keeping updates on activities

Understanding of how to organize and manage contracts with consultants (scientific writers, designers, etc.) in accordance with established policies and processes.

Experience authoring grant proposals for government agencies, private companies, foundations, etc.

Work and experience in low- and middle-income countries a plus
