Is the entire nation benefitting from the school feeding program in Ghana?
I am physician who directs a charity in Ghana, Project Peanut Butter, which is distributing a school snack to 50,000 children per day. I also have conducted original research in school feeding in Ghana demonstrating improved cognition in Atebubu district.
I think the short answer to this question is yes, some type of school feeding is available at almost all public schools. Now about 20% of eligible children are not enrolled in school (an estimate and guess), and they do not benefit from school feeding. And the consistency of the school food program can be intermittent in some areas, contingent upon coordination of many partners.
The commitment to school feeding in Ghana by the government is remarkable!
