In the WHO guide on the calculation of IYCF indicators, it always mentions 'if the sample size allows it' without further precision. I would like to know what is the minimum sample size sufficient to be able to calculate indicators in a stratum during a nutrition survey with the SMART methodology. Are there guidelines on the subject?

Sample sizes for the IYCF indicators are calculated in the same way sample sizes for any other dichotomous outcomes are calculated. You must decide what level of precision is necessary to make the decisions which necessitated the survey to begin with. There is no standard sample size because the decisions to be made and the variables affecting sample size, such as assumed prevalence and design effect, will be different in each situation. You should find someone familiar with sample size calculation to help you walk through the process.
