Summary
The Emergency Nutrition Advisor will play a significant role in implementing Save the Children’s emergency nutrition vision, strategy and operational plans, promoting high quality emergency nutrition programming globally. The Advisor will work closely with colleagues across the Save the Children Global Movement to provide technical leadership in innovation, quality oversight and first response to humanitarian responses, capacity building, facilitation of program learning and support to global and country-level coordination and advocacy efforts.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
 Lead the design, testing, and evaluation of innovations to advance emergency nutrition programming, specifically in areas including the Management of Acute Malnutrition in Infants (MAMI) and Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) (40%)
 Provide senior level technical expertise and oversight to ensure humanitarian responses adhere to quality standards and benchmarks including deploying and backstopping emergencies and providing ongoing support to priority country programs (35%)
 Build staff capacity to design and deliver quality emergency nutrition programming through the development and/or dissemination of training curriculum, evidence-based program standards, guidance, and tools (10%)
 Participate in internal and external humanitarian and nutrition-focused coordination fora and contribute to strengthening global partnerships in emergency nutrition (5%)
 Contribute to the development and dissemination of emergency nutrition related communications, policy and advocacy positions and assets (5%)
 Provide direct technical support for the development of quality emergency nutrition project proposals and contribute to the definition of public and private fundraising priorities (5%)

Required Qualifications
 Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in public health nutrition or related field required
 Minimum 7-10 years of experience in humanitarian or relief work required
Experience and knowledge in a variety of emergency nutrition programming areas required (ie – IYCF-E, community-management of acute malnutrition and emergency nutrition surveys required); expertise in IYCF-E preferred.
 Expertise in research methodologies and experience in designing and leading operations research and learning projects in emergency nutrition required
 Willingness to travel internationally 35% of the time; Willingness and ability to work in an insecure and hardship environments.

Preferred Qualifications
 Masters’ degree or higher in public health nutrition or related field
 Must be a strategic thinker, making effective, considered and timely decisions by gathering and evaluating relevant information
 Experience developing and implementing innovative solutions in order to adapt and succeed in ever-changing and uncertain global and working environments.
 Demonstrable leadership skills and ability to articulate a compelling vision to inspire others
 Experience building and sustaining relationships and with key stakeholders internally, cross functionally and externally;
 Excellent communications skills; writing, editing, training and representation experience essential
 Strong capacity building skills - investing time and energy to actively develop self and others, explains and demonstrates, provides feedback and reinforcement, aligns performance for success, builds trust, and coaches
 History of taking personal responsibility and holding others accountable for delivering commitments, continually improving own performance or that of the team/organization.
