Does anyone know of any resources/research exploring the sensitivity of using visible wasting and visible indicators rather than measurements in screening for malnutrition?
How many children were missed using this "method"?

Table 1 shows a generally agreed framework for judging the suitability of different case-detection procedures fro different applications. Visible wasting does badly when tested against this framework (because it is neither objective or quantitative.
