JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Nutrition Advisor, Technical Unit, the Nutrition Advisor will be a member of the technical department and will oversee the designing and implementation of International Medical Corps nutrition programs. This position will provide leadership and coordination in the development of International Medical Corps nutrition strategies, standards, and tools. Will work closely with International Medical Corps field offices and with HQ departments and will be expected to extensively contribute to the relevant grant proposal development and to technical capacity building within the organization. Will provide leadership to position International Medical Corps globally in nutrition interventions and innovation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, participate in, or facilitate assessments, surveys or evaluations as necessary for program development
Lead or participate in program design and development,
Conduct review of proposals, including budgets, M&E plans, activity plans and procurement plans
Conduct review of donor reports, assessments, evaluations, and program data
Ensure International Medical Corps nutrition program standards meet or exceed expectations;
Participate in regular calls with field level counterparts to provide technical advice for ongoing programs and continued development of nutrition activities
Build capacity of field level staff in all aspects of nutrition programming, including CMAM, IYCF, micronutrient supplementation, assessments, etc. through field visits and remote support
Encourage and facilitate the documentation of best practices and lessons learned
Build and maintain relationships with external and internal partners in order to enhance their understanding of International Medical Corps nutrition programming
Meet with potential donors or partners as nutrition technical expert as needed

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Nutrition or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five or more years managing International Nutrition projects; experience in both emergency and development context
Experience using nutrition assessment and survey methodologies
Strong training and mentoring skills
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
A superior ability to multitask and organize information;
Ability to be flexible and work well under pressure;
Experience in working effectively with people from various cultural backgrounds.
Ability to exercise sound judgments and make decisions independently.
