Country: Afghanistan - Kabul

Length of contract: 12 months; starting on January 1st 2018

The position: You will work with the Nutrition Cluster Coordinator as well as the MoPH counter parts (PND) and the Strategic Advisory Group to provide overall leadership for the Nutrition Cluster in Afghanistan, to facilitate the process of ensuring a coherent and effective emergency nutrition response by partners.

More precisely, your main responsibilities will be:

•Planning and strategy development: Support the Cluster Coordinator in the development of Nutrition Cluster strategies and plans at national and sub national level, based on solid analysis of the situation; to prepare for and respond appropriately to emergencies.

•Inter-cluster coordination: Strengthen inter-cluster coordination at Regional level and given support at National level

•Coordination with working group: Working closely with chairs and co-chairs of the Nutrition working groups (AIMWG, IYCF WG, MNWG, Capacity Development WG, IMAM WG) and Task

•Assessment and response planning: Support regional Sub-Cluster Nutrition Cluster Focal points (MoPH, UNICEF & NGO) and nutrition partners to participate in nutrition needs assessments and response planning

•Application of standards: ensure that emergency nutrition responses are in line with existing MoPH/ international policies, protocols & technical standards

•Monitoring and reporting: Review program data generated by the reporting database, identify trends, and follow up action when needs.

•Strengthen sub-national coordination by working closely with sub-national coordinators (from the CLA and MoPH/PND): Support sub-national clusters in fulfilling six core functions and accountability to affected population as per IASC guidance

•Promoting partnership: support the Cluster coordinator in exploring and identifying appropriate new partners to engage in emergency nutrition in Afghanistan

•Advocacy and resource mobilization: identify core advocacy concerns for the cluster, including resource requirements, and ensure key advocacy messages are shared with appropriate stakeholders/decision makers


The applicant:
You hold an advanced university degree in nutrition, public health or a related technical field.
You have 5 years of experience with progressively responsible work, at national or international level, and at least an experience working in conflict affected insecure locations.
You have a solid experience in representation and liaison with different partners (local authorities, UN agencies, INGO/NGO).
Recognized for your networking skills, you have excellent communication skills. You have the ability to identify, analyse humanitarian needs and provide potential solutions.
Good knowledge in proposal development process is a great asset.

Status:
Gross monthly salary ranging from €1805 to €2305 depending on relevant experience
Food and hygiene expenses, per diem, transportation costs, collective or individual accommodation, medical insurance
25 days of annual paid leaves and 20 days of rest and recuperation (R&R) per year
