GOAL are proud to launch the next round of our Global Talent Programme; a training and development scheme which offers participants access to entry level opportunities and to kick start an exciting career in humanitarian aid. The Global Talent Programme is a one year scheme that will enable participants to develop the necessary skills to turn their passion into a career and to see their academic results achieve real impact.

The Global Talent Programme

The programme will give experience of working in GOAL’s headquarters in Dublin or London as well as in our country programmes, giving a broad range of experience in humanitarian programme management. During the first five months, you will work intensively with your department team gaining on-the-job training and mentoring in aspects of humanitarian programme management. The second period of the placement will be a deployment based in a field location and embedded in one of GOAL’s country programme teams. You will play an active role in implementing GOAL’s programmes and strategies. You will work with experienced professionals who will act as mentors helping you to development the skills necessary for a successful career in the sector.

Programme participants will have their living costs, travel, insurance and medical costs supported by GOAL.

Requirements

Relevant 3rd level qualification in a related field
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a multi-cultural team with differing areas of expertise
Enthusiastic, self-starter interested in a career in humanitarian assistance
Ability to live and work overseas, occasionally in challenging environments with limited resources
While this is a programme targeting graduates/ people seeking a career change, previous relevant work experience is an advantage
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a multi-cultural team
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written in English
An ability to maintain a positive attitude to work especially when faced with stressful situations, team conflict and/or multiple deadlines across all departments

Programme participants will nominate their preferred discipline based on qualifications and experience. The different departments include:

Health – London based
Nutrition – Dublin based
WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) – London based

Specific Requirements: Nutrition

Experience in nutrition programming / research in development and / or emergency contexts
Familiar with current best practice international development / humanitarian nutrition policy and guidelines
Strong communication skills
Enthusiastic and quick to learn
Interest and / or experience in nutrition outcomes using market systems approaches

Specific Requirements: Health

Experience in delivering clinical services as a nurse or medical doctor
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
Commitment to humanitarian assistance
Experience working overseas a bonus
Language skills desirable – especially French or Arabic
Willing to travel to insecure environments and deploy with the EMT if required

Specific Requirements: WASH

Degree in Public Health, Water and Sanitary Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Excellent written and spoken English, communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
Experience working overseas in WASH programmes in a development and/or emergency context
Post-graduate professional qualification with specific focus on water, sanitation and hygiene
Fluency in Arabic or French
