Currently we are inviting applications for the position of Technical Specialist, Nutrition Research and Evaluation. The Technical Specialist, Nutrition Research & Evaluation will report to the Nutrition Lead for the Nutrition Center of Expertise, work closely with the WV Canada Nutrition and Health team, as well as collaborating with members of the Nutrition Reference Group and the larger Community of Practice. RESPONSIBILITIES Management and Coordination Manage/coordinate identification of operational research that would support improvement of WV nutrition programming in development, with relevant WV stakeholders Design, pilot and/or backstop implementation of nutrition-related operational research Document and assess current models of operation for impact and effectiveness Liaise as primary CoE point person with one region on all nutrition issues Develop with RO/NO at least one site per region of high-level monitoring and evaluation of nutrition programs Review GC-funded projects & regional reports evaluating nutrition programming and status Technical Support, Advocacy and Representation Develop minimum standards and indicators for evaluation of nutrition programs for the partnership, in line with international standards Recommend tools/guidelines for assessment, monitoring and evaluation of indicators for various WV entities (e.g., sponsorship, HIV/AIDS) Recommend and provide guidelines for systems that are effective, sensitive to context, reinforce accountability, enable learning and continuous improvement Liaise with Technical Specialist: Emergency Nutrition, providing technical support to research in the emergency context. Advocate with WV entities for incorporation of research & evaluation findings Develop external partnerships with other relevant NGOs and institutions, for increased quality of research & evaluation, and publishing partnerships QUALIFICATIONS Ph D in Nutrition or Nutritional Epidemiology, or M Sc with extensive research experience in international nutrition Must demonstrate understanding/experience in health/development beyond nutrition sector Ability to liaise/network with external institutions in a professional manner A minimum of 5 years experience in managing nutrition and health and development programs or projects in developing countries Significant experience in international nutrition research & evaluation.
