Concern Worldwide is seeking applications from qualified Nutritionists with at least two years’ experience in emergency contexts.
In South Sudan Concern is focused on services that are most crucial for ensuring the survival of displaced people and host communities. Nutrition activities will contribute to a reduction of morbidity and mortality caused by malnutrition amongst children under 5 years of age and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) through screening for malnutrition, treating moderate and severe acute malnutrition and promotion of infant and young child feeding practices to prevent malnutrition.
You will be responsible for managing emergency nutrition responses, working with national partner organisations to implement a CMAM programme and, where necessary, food distributions. The role will include close co-operation with local authorities and stakeholders including INGOs and UN bodies.
Objectives and Specific Tasks to be undertaken by the Emergency Nutritionist
• Provide technical assistance, supervision and coaching to partner staff in screening, outreach, CMAM, IYCF and possibly BSFP.
• Participate in inter-agency coordination at field level and represent Concern with local authorities when required.
• Provide periodic reports to Head office including security reports.
• Participate in assessments when necessary.
• Provide remote support to counterpart through processing of supplies requests and liaising with logistics and finance.
• Participating in Nutrition Cluster meetings
Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:
? Degree in Nutrition qualification.
? At least two years’ experience in management of nutrition projects in developing countries; one or more years’ experience in Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) desirable
? Experience in monitoring and evaluation nutrition projects, including project data management/analysis
? Experience working in IDPs and/or refugees setting
? Experience in mass MUAC screening of under-five children, pregnant and lactating women including data analysis and use of EPI-Info and SPSS software
? Ability to manage local staff in a mature and impartial manner
? Computer skills including database management, Microsoft Word and Excel
