One of the simplest ways in applying a formula is to proceed step by step, considering one parameter at a time, while keeping the others constant: So in this case we start by converting the 0.20 deaths /1,000/ month to deaths per 10,000/month. This will be 0.2x10,000/1000=2death/10,000/month. Then proceed to convert the deaths per month to deaths per day: 2 deaths/10,000/30 = 0.07 deaths/10,000/day

0.2 * (1000 / 10000) = 2
That is 2 / 10,000 / month.
(2) Convert from one month (30.44 days) to one day:
2 / 30.44 = 0.0657
That is 0.0657 / 10,000 / day. You could round this to 0.07 / 10,000 / day.Answered:
9 years agoThis more of a question about interpretation.
Using the example in the question with a CRD of 0.16/10000/day let's assume that a country's population at the end of the year is 5000000 how can one interpret the expected death rate ie
(0.16*5000000)/10000 = 80. Is it right to interpret this as 80 death per day from a population of 5m. By extension (80*365) death by year ?
I am new to epi and am not really sure about the interpretation. While searching for answer I stumble upon this thread.
