PROGRAM BACKGROUND International Medical Corps has deployed an emergency response team to Nepal and is providing medical care and delivering supplies to populations affected by the earthquake. JOB SUMMARY: The Nutrition Manager will, in coordination with the Health Coordinator, oversee the nutritional activities in International Medical Corps programs. She/He will coach and guide Nutritionist workers at the field sites. She/he will work with a National Nutritionist as counterpart and coach. The nutritionist will, at the end of the contract, handover responsibilities to the National Nutritionist as Nutrition team leader. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition programs • Assisting malnourished populations • Preparation of food for minimum nutritional benefit • Assess dietary treatment of diarrhea • Conduct weight for height comparison surveys • Establish and manage supplemental and therapeutic feeding programs for infants, young children, pregnant and lactating women, the sick and elderly • Integrate nutrition with other health and related programs • Coordinate and collaborate with other sectors (micro-credit, education, agriculture, etc) as appropriate. • Develop proposals for funding nutritional programs, and write project/program reports • Provide technical assistance to IMC staff and other collaborating agencies such as MOH, CBOs, local NGOs etc. • Assist in developing formal and informal training materials to build the capacity of refugees and the host population in health and nutrition • Develop a monitoring and evaluation system for the program • Submit weekly statistic and the monthly narrative report to the team leader. • Ensure that food stock and the nutritional equipment are in place on a monthly basis • Other duties as assigned. BS in Nutrition required with 8-10 years of field experience or Masters Degree required in Nutrition or other relevant field, 6-8 years of international experience in nutrition response, including experience in emergency response and recovery following natural disaster or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in assessment, program design and evaluation and technical training and support. 2. An up-to date understanding of nutrition, risk reduction, emergency response, and sustainable development concepts. 3. Knowledge in designing and implementing appropriate and effective holistic nutrition programs including ensuring that beneficiaries have access to health care, WASH, and FS programming. 4. Familiarity with design and programming processes of different donors and a general familiarity with recent initiatives such as the Global Health Initiative and Feed the Future. 5. Proficient analytical skills that demonstrate an understanding of the current concepts, priorities, and issues in program monitoring, data collection and evaluation. 6. Skills in technical proposal writing, designing and implementing nutrition programs 7. Ability to exhibit tact, diplomacy, and resourcefulness in dealing with high level officials from donor agencies, international organizations, and other foreign and domestic government officials and partners. 8. Must have excellent English written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments within International Medical Corps, donors, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
