Hi I am working in field of Nutrition from last 6 years and I am trained in Public health. I have received training's in CMAM, NIE, SMART Survey and IYCF. I dont have any academic science background. I want to pursue a Masters course i nutrition preferably online. Kindly suggest any Masters or Postgraduate course in nutrition.
As course director, I have to declare conflict of interest/bias towards my own MSc, (Nutrition for Global Health - though we don't currently have distance learning options). But many others are also available and are also very good. Key things I advise prospective students include: 1) Check COURSE CONTENT carefully to ensure your future career development needs will be met (e.g. which modules are compulsory? which optional ones are available? What do they cover in detail?) Different courses are "right" for different people. Related to this, CHECK ENTRY REQUIREMENTS before applying (a surprising number of people don't seem to...) 2) Talk to previous and current students. The quality/eventual career destination of alumni/graduates often says lots about the course. 3) Check if the course has been independently validated/certified (e.g by the Association for Nutrition http://www.associationfornutrition.org/Default.aspx?tabid=74 4) Check the various university websites to see what kind of summer research projects people do (if any) as part of their course 5) Consider your personal circumstances and how an MSc/course will 'fit' with your other commitments. Don't underestimate how hugely demanding study can be and ensure you have enough protected time. Doing part time study is VERY tough - full time study is preferable for most people if at all possible since it ensures full immersion/full focus. Hope that helps, Best wishes. Marko

Look at the Federation of the Red Cross and see what courses they offer in this field. How about the World Food Programme or some sort of Refugee Programme that deals in Nutrition.

You could also look at possible scholarships from recognized schools like the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine: http://www.lshtm.ac.uk/study/funding/masters_scholarships.html

La formation sera plus intéressante si elle est organisée en ligne pour permettre les professionnels en nutrition à pendre part et massivement à la formation sans abandonner le travail. The training would be more interesting if it was available online to allow nutrition professionals to take part and especially to enable access to training without taking absence from work.

Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy offers a blended masters program (online and on-campus). Students come to campus for about 1 week each semester. Details are here: Master of Nutrition Science and Policy degree program

For people seeking academic opportunities and funding for Masters and PhD, the following sites have recently been brought to my attention:

1) https://www.findamasters.com/funding/guides/masters-funding-guide.aspx
2) http://www.associationfornutrition.org/
which lists ALL nutrition courses
3) https://www.vitae.ac.uk/ (this is focused on PhD but still gives lots of helpful advice)

Best wishes,
Tamsin
