BBC Health Research Manager London 12 month fixed term contract Competitive salary Job Reference: BBC/TP/139984/10713 Job Introduction BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity, which uses media and communications to tackle poverty and contribute to long-term change in some of the world’s poorest places. We do this through implementing governance, health and resilience projects in partnership with civil society, local media and governments. As Health Research Manager you will be responsible for advising on, and implementing, research related to health communication across the organisation. Main Responsibilities This role will need you to be the main point of contact on health and health communication research issues and you will lead on and be responsible for delivering health research advice and evaluation approaches. You will also collate and analyse data, aggregate insights evidence within the health area, and be responsible for reporting these for our key donors. This position will expect you to support other Research Managers with providing standardised health research questions, give advice on research design, research instruments and support on analysis and interpretation. You’ll liaise with internal and external stakeholders and lead on disseminating findings and building contacts and networks, coupled with collaborating with external organisations where appropriate. You will be required to manage project research budgets, along with supporting and developing the research team. The Ideal Candidate This position will need you to have strong knowledge of the key themes and development issues related to the Health research area; and have a strong understanding of research conducted in this field and understand recent trends in the health and health communication sectors. You will have significant experience in conducting and reporting Health research and have strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, with experience of in developing standardised research instruments, and designing and managing mixed methods research in support of practical outcomes. You’ll have excellent project management experience, experience in managing and motivating staff, along with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
