Role and Responsibilities
Oversee the implementation of primary health care projects to ensure that beneficiary participation is enhanced. Develop, lead, monitor and evaluate the assigned health and nutrition project(s). Effectively manage and report on projects in line with the objectives, time frame and budget with a focus on health and nutrition system strengthening, training and coordination. Provide technical support, leadership and strategic direction. Encourage beneficiary participation, liaise with stakeholders, manage and train health and nutrition staff and anticipate, plan, and contribute to the development of health and nutrition project proposals and reports.
Project Overview
Multi-sectoral relief programme to assist in reducing morbidity and mortality in vulnerable populations of South Sudan, including: rapid emergency water and sanitation, and health and nutrition response; provision of primary health care; health and hygiene promotion; safe water provision.

Key Activity Areas
Project Management
• Develop and manage comprehensive activity plans covering the time frame of the projects as set out in project proposals.
• Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against project objectives in conjunction with the M&E personnel in Juba.
• Support the Health & Nutrition Advisors, Projects Coordinator, and Deputy Country Director and the County Director in the development of new proposals.
Logistics
• Develop and manage comprehensive activity plans covering the time frame of the projects as set out in project proposals.
• Manage logistics needs within the Health team and coordinate with the flights coordinator in order to ensure all project related equipment and material is available on site in a timely fashion.
Staff Management
• Facilitate regular meetings to assist information sharing between project staff, to ensure all staff members are aware of project objectives and current work plans and to provide the opportunity for feedback.
• Oversee all health and nutrition project staff including: appraisals, management, development and training, holiday planning, disciplinary, job descriptions, work schedules. Ensure their spiritual, physical and mental well-being is intact.
Financial Management
• To plan the spending of budgets in an appropriate and timely way.
Communication
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities (monthly reports as per Medair standard, input to quarterly and final reports as requested by Juba office) with the Projects Coordinator. Ad-hoc provision of other communications.
• Develop and maintain a transparent, honest and supportive communication structure with the team members as well as with other Medair staff so as to uphold a spirit of unity and mutual respect.
Coordination
• Develop and maintain transparent and honest communication and relationships with stakeholders (beneficiaries, local government officials, UN agencies and NGOs).
Security Management
• Develop and manage comprehensive activity plans covering the time frame of the projects as set out in project proposals.
Quality Management
• Ensure team implements projects in accordance with Medair, donor, South Sudanese and international standards.
Qualifications
• Higher level qualification, preferably in nutrition or in another relevant field such as nursing / midwifery / doctor / community-based training
Languages
• Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
Experience / Competencies
• 2 years post-qualification professional experience in a relevant field
• Management experience in a health and nutrition context
• Knowledge and experience of nutrition / primary health care principles and management
• Clinical skills within a Primary Health Care setting desirable
• Experience in the design, monitoring of implementation and evaluation of CMAM programmes desirable
• Able to prioritise clearly and oversee multiple tasks; able to take the initiative in project decisions
• Team-player with good inter-personal skills; committed to consultative and servant-minded leadership

Working Conditions
