SUMMARY
The Emergency Nutrition Humanitarian Response Personnel (HRP) will serve as a critical member of the Emergency Health and Nutrition (EHN) team in promoting high quality emergency nutrition programming globally. To this end, the Emergency Nutrition HRP will primarily support emergency responses and country programs through deployment and remote support. The HRP will generally be deployed to the field up to 65% of the time as a lead technical advisor or manager in small to large-scale emergencies or to gap fill a senior technical advisory role in a longer term humanitarian country program. When deployed, the HRP will be expected to lead on nutrition assessments, program design and master budgeting, coordination, resource mobilization, recruitment and procurement. The HRP will also be expected to provide remote support to programs. The Emergency Nutrition HRP will work closely with Save the Children colleagues from both technical and emergency response departments to facilitate emergency nutrition program learning and innovation as well as building agency wide capacity
REQUIREMENTS
• Considerable experience in humanitarian or relief work in developing countries (5 years), with extensive work in emergency situations (including quick onset emergency).
• Masters degree or higher in public health nutrition or related field
• Ability to work both in an advisory and a hands on implementation capacity required
• Experience in nutrition project management and program coordination, implementing nutrition programs within donor constraints, on time and within budget required.
• Experience in a variety of emergency nutrition programming interventions (ie - CMAM and IYCF-E) required.
• Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff in nutrition technical skills required.
• Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills required (ie – rapid assessments, SMART, SQUEAC) required.
• Experience with strategy and policy development preferred.
• Experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums including engagement in Global or National Nutrition Clusters preferred.
• Willingness to be deployed on emergency response or country-level technical assistance at least 65% of the time
• Fluency in written and spoken English and working knowledge of one other Language (French or Arabic preferred).
