We are looking for: A NUTRITIONAL CAUSAL ANALYSIS EXPERT Country: Afghanistan, based in Kabul with regular trip in the field Length of Contract: 4 months starting from the 15th of August 2014 Responsibilities: You will be tasked with completing the Nutrition Causal Analysis (NCA) study on the causes of under-nutrition in the targeted area and communicating the results. More specifically, you will be expected to: Conduct a Nutrition Causal Analysis following the ACF – NCA guidelines (prior training on the guidelines will be conducted at ACF Paris HQ). • Explaining the methodology and study plan of action to the ACF coordination team, as well as to the field teams • Ensure the participation of the ACF team to the NCA study. • Discuss and define with ACF team an action plan based on the findings and recommendations of the NCA. Team Management • Identify human resource requirements for the study • Participate in the recruitment of its team with the HR HoD • Supervise and manage its direct employees • Train its team to NCA survey methodology • Promote respect for the ACF Charter and prevent fraud and power abuse. • Conduct performance evaluation & leave references for each team member Communicate on the NCA • Keep informed the NCA head of project at headquarters from the beginning of the study • Produce an executive summary of the final NCA report • Ensure the publication of the study. • Prepare and publish an article about the study for ACF. • Support the advocacy work of the mission. Represent and liaise with the authorities, the UN, NGOs and local partners • Facilitate coordination meetings in link with NCA • Represent ACF at local, regional or national level in collaboration with the Country Director and / or the field coordinator and liaise with UN agencies, national and international NGOs and governments Contribute to ACF capitalization and contribute to the improvement of the NCA methodology • Develop recommendations / advice for the implementation of the NCA methodology through a brief mission report and a debriefing with the NCA head of project at HQ. • Contribute to the capitalization of the field tools used for the NCA. Qualification and previous experience: Graduate or post-graduate degree in anthropology, nutrition or social sciences. Previous experience and demonstrated skills in applied research in particular qualitative research. Complementary skills in Anthropology and Community-based approaches would be an advantage Broad knowledge and experience of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive principles and programming. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Provent writing and analytical skills. Mastery of data management and data analysis software such as ENA, EPIDATA or SPSS. Proficiency in written and spoken English. Able to work in complicated security environment. Experience in Afghanistan will be a plus.
