We are looking for A NUTRITION SURVEILLANCE EXPERT Country: Sierra Leone, based in Freetown Length of Contract: 10 months, starting as soon as possible Responsibilities: The general objective of the expert is to strengthen the Nutrition Surveillance system. All activities should be done in partnership and by building the capacities of the Nutrition Surveillance Officer (NSO) at MoHS (Food and Nutrition Directorate). More specially, you will be in charge to: - Integrate the nutrition indicators with HMIS and Early Warning System (EWS) • Advocate and support the Directorate of Policy, Planning and Information (DPPI) to recover the current HMIS server system with proper data aggregation functions. • Standardize data sources and method of data recording nutrition related data in the HMIS in coordination with WHO • Promote smooth and timely flow of nutrition surveillance data to EWS, making sure data collected by EWS is linked to under-nutrition trends and helping identify vulnerable chiefdoms for detail assessment. - Capacity building of the Nutrition Surveillance Officer and District Nutritionists • Ensure that the NSO is building the capacities of district nutritionists through regular coaching and technical advices • Formulate tabulation plan for all analysis indicators • Implement an improved nutrition surveillance system model using the triple-A (Assessment-Analysis-Action) approach, targeting the two districts of Moyamba and Western Area and pilot PHUs within the districts - Dissemination and Coordination • Support the NSO to design and produce quarterly and annual nutrition surveillance report • Support the Nutrition Directorate to prepare and organize technical working group • Support the NSO to develop the archive system and database • Develop with the NSO the monitoring and evaluation indicator-tracking table containing data source, frequency and responsibility for each indicator. Qualification and previous experience: You hold a post-graduate degree in public health and/or nutrition and/or epidemiologist, with extensive professional experience in the field in health and/ or nutrition surveillance system. Successful applicants will demonstrate proven experience in partnership and workshop facilitation. You are also recognized for your communication skills. A first experience in ACF will be an asset, as well the use of new technologies. Fluent English required.
