JOB SUMMARY:
The Nutrition Advisor is a regional field position responsible for providing technical support to the field team in Turkey as well as other neighboring countries in order to successfully design and implement high quality humanitarian nutrition programs. The position is based in S. Turkey and traveling to Lebanon as needed. This position demands nutrition technical knowledge and practice experience in CMAM programing, capacity building, and work experience in difficult circumstances and in conflict areas.
Technical Program Support:
• Assist nutrition focal points in the missions in conducting nutrition assessments, analyzing, reporting, and developing technically sound responses.
• Ensure that the implementation of the nutrition programs conform to internationally accepted standards and country guidelines
• With the countries nutrition focal points, monitor program impact and ensure that program data is valid and relevant, and used to inform program development.
• Provide guidance to staff on the integration of a nutrition component into other sectors as appropriate
• Provide technical leadership and support for conducting nutrition surveys
• Provide technical review of proposals and project reports prior to submission to donors
• Participate in the development and expansion of International Medical Corps nutrition programming in emergencies and development.
Training and Capacity Building:
• With the countries nutrition focal points, assess the training needs of nutrition and other relevant IMC staff and develop a training program to meet these needs.
• With the countries nutrition focal points, conduct nutrition training for project nutrition, health, and mental health staff, as appropriate, and MOH counterparts implementing nutrition programs, focusing on all aspects of community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), IYCF,
• With the countries nutrition focal points, ensure the establishment and strengthening of nutrition monitoring activities and train health staff (IMC, MOH, and local NGOs as appropriate) in case detection and referral mechanisms.
• With the countries nutrition focal points, conduct and train health staff on survey methodology including SMART surveys, causal analysis, and other assessment methods.
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
• Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
