Role and Responsibilities
Develop, manage, monitor, evaluate and report on the assigned health and nutrition project(s), with a focus on health and nutrition system strengthening, training and coordination; provide technical support, manage and train primary health care and nutrition staff; encourage beneficiary participation; coordinate sector response with other stakeholders; anticipate, plan, and contribute to the development of new health and /or nutrition project proposals.
Project Overview
Focus on new project start up, following Medair’s emergency response to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, addressing health and nutrition needs in a complex context (with a focus on new forming projects). Capacity building in selected local partner health facilities and communities, especially the Ministry of Social Development (MoSA) through existing Social Development Centres (SDCs).

Key Activity Areas
Health & Nutrition Project Management
• Facilitate the start-up of new health and nutrition projects, specifically supporting the MoSA through existing SDCs.
• Manage the assigned health and nutrition project(s) in order to meet the project objectives within budget and within the allotted time frame. Promptly report any operational concerns to relevant staff.
• Provide strong leadership of the assigned health and nutrition project(s), working to ensure both short and long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries, local health authorities (where applicable) and local health and nutrition staff.
• Contribute to development and implementation of an appropriate and effective health and nutrition strategy including proactive planning for responsible exit in consultation with relevant staff.
• Continuously monitor and supervise health and nutrition activities, evaluating progress through outputs and impacts using both quantitative and qualitative data, and involving the health and nutrition team (and where applicable local health authorities) in analysis and taking appropriate action.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities according to Medair, donor and other applicable timeframes and formats.
• Develop new proposals, linked to the assessed needs and gaps and the Medair country strategy, in conjunction with the relevant field managers and the regional health and nutrition advisor.
Staff Management
• Line-manage Medair health and nutrition staff and facilitate management of staff employed in SDCs.
• Facilitate regular meetings to assist information sharing between staff and local partner, ensuring staff members are aware of project objectives and work plans and to provide opportunity for feedback.
• Provide coaching and technical supervision to local partner staff (especially MoSA) in order to develop ownership and full responsibility for health and nutrition activities.
Financial Management
• Manage the health and nutrition budget for the assigned project(s) and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet the Medair standards.
Communication and Coordination
• Develop regular, transparent and supportive communication structures with the assigned health and nutrition team, Medair in-country and HQ health and nutrition mgrs / advisors, local partner (MoSA) or other local NGO partner and other relevant stakeholders ensuring good cooperation and partnerships.
• Participate in health and nutrition coordination meetings, Medair internal trainings, and other working groups or meetings as required, representing Medair and feeding back to the health and nutrition staff.
Logistics
• Support the logistics activities of health and nutrition staff, particularly in relation to the purchasing of medicines, supplies and equipment for the assigned health and nutrition facilities and activities.
Quality Management
• Ensure health and nutrition projects are implemented in line with donor proposals / requirements and in accordance with Medair, donor, country and international standards i.e. Sphere and HAP standards.
