1 ) When using the sample XS calculator from http://www.brixtonhealth.com/ it says to put in the target populuation. Assume that this is the target population of say under 5 year olds, rather than the total population of the area?
2) Assume that this can be used to calculate numbers for stunting and acute malnutrition depending on what prevalence that you put in?
(1) Yes. The population is the population you are interested in. For IYCF this might be the population 0-23 (or 0-24) months. For a SMART type assessment this would be the population 6-59 months. If you do not know the population or suspect it is very big then put in a very big number (e.g. 50,000).
(2) Yes. If you have (e.g.) two indicators then do the sample size calculation for both and pick the biggest sample size.
