Samaritan's Purse is hiring! Yida, South Sudan - The Nutrition Program Manager (NPM) will serve as the overall manager of Samaritan’s Purse (SP) Emergency Nutrition Programming in Yida Refugee camp, Pariang County, Unity State. The primary functions of the Nutrition PM are to supervise and manage all aspects of the nutrition program (Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP), Targeted Supplemental Feeding Programs and Host Community Feeding Programs). Additional functions include participation in nutrition interventions, accurate reporting, develop necessary contacts and relationships, lead the development of strategies, and manage existing programs and resources. The Nutrition PM will provide day to day supervision, management and training to a team of nutrition staff and technical coordination with the food security programming. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Oversee all programmatic aspects of SP Nutrition programs; ensuring that all interventions are implemented to the highest standards. • Provide leadership and technical advice to the nutrition staff, including the pediatrician, OTP staff and nutrition officers. • Manage nutrition budget. • Ensure that reporting to Area Coordinator, NGO partners, CHF and Nutrition Cluster is done on a timely and regular basis and that the quality of reports meets the funding partners’ expectations and standards. • Maintain relationships with all local health partners, ensure regular communication is maintained, ensure partners receive adequate support, lead capacity strengthening, provide program oversight, and fully comply with program and resource management standards. • Focal point person for program planning, reporting, and accountability, related to CHF nutrition programs. • Liaise with the M&E team for adequate monitoring and evaluation of all health and nutrition programs. • Provide technical support to projects with design to improve nutritional status of vulnerable populations. • Provide technical support to nutritional assessment activities, including sound sampling methodologies, data collection, management systems, and reporting formats. • Review relevant reports to donors to ensure technical debates are well articulated and reports are of acceptable quality prior to submission. • Provide technical training requirements for CHF nutrition staff and identify external support where necessary. • Identify and provide management for consultants related to nutrition requirements. • Promote inter-agency and inter-sectoral coordination while representing SP in relevant meetings and working groups • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will have the responsibility of the management of a team of nutrition field workers, a community organizer, a health educator and community nutrition volunteers. QUALIFICATIONS: • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Nutrition required. • Advanced University Degree (M.Sc) in Nursing, Public Health or Nutrition; highly preferred. • One year of college-level Biblical studies preferred. • Experience of 2 years as a manager or coordinator specifically related to nutrition programming. • Experience in food assistance programming specifically WFP programs highly preferred. • Experience in conducting nutrition surveys, including planning, sampling, training, data collection, supervision, data cleaning, analysis, reporting and dissemination. • Excellent skills in Word, Excel and in appropriate software for nutrition (Epi info, ENA etc) • Strong coordination skills. • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines. • Ability to assess problems and recommend solutions. • Methodical and thorough familiarity with SMART method, including software application with plausibility checks and software application (ENA-Epi/ ENA-SMART, or EpiInfo). • Experience in use and interpretation of WHO child growth standards. • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences. • Ability to motivate and develop skills of others. • Arabic language skills preferred but not required 12 month contract with the potential for renewal. This is an unaccompanied assignment.
