Action Against Hunger (ACF) was founded by a group of prominent French figures in response to the emergency caused by Afghan refugees fleeing to Pakistan to escape fighting in 1979, with the aim of eradicating hunger in a more global, lasting and effective way worldwide. ACF’s mission consists of saving lives via the prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition, in particular during and following disasters and conflicts. In 2011, ACF-International was active in over 45 countries, coming to the aid of around 6 million individuals. By integrating our programmes with regional and national systems, ACF is ensuring that short-term actions are becoming long-term solutions. Length of contract : 5 months, in Kabul - Afghanistan Responsibilities: 1. Strengthen ACF Afghanistan Nutrition strategic positioning and programming - Explore needs and feasibility of relevant nutrition interventions in compliance with ACF strategy in terms of nutrition and develop projects accordingly; - Develop partnerships with local and international health or nutrition partners. In the scope of the BPHS, developing partnership should be one of the priority; 2. Build, strengthen and reinforce ACF nutrition capacity in the country - Recruitment and continuous capacity development of a nutrition team; - Strengthen the psycho –social component in nutrition program; - Provide technical support to nutrition actors such as NGOs or/and MoPH; 3. Management of all Nutrition interventions - Supervise the operational managers; - Support the nutrition team defining the implementation methodology, organizing trainings, defining a realistic working plan, setting up monitoring and activity follow-up tools; 4. External coordination and representation - Maintain collaboration and coordination with the MoPH, particularly with the Public Nutrition Department; - Actively participate in monthly nutrition cluster and sub-groups on specific technical issues (e.g. CMAM, IYCF); - Actively participate in ‘Central region meeting’ chaired by OCHA for coordinating intervention at provincial level; 5. Carry out reporting tasks and capitalization work - Produce nutrition reports/updates and disseminate them to stakeholders; - Revise existing nutrition reference documents and provide feedback on them when relevant; - Analyse and document the data collected; Profile requested Bachelor/Masters in Public Health, Nutrition, Nutritionist, Nurse or Doctor, 5 years’ experience is requested. Confirmed Nutrition coordinator with field experience compulsory (management of international PMs). Capacity to work in complicated security environment. Excellent communication skills and team management. Autonomy, good organization skills, multi-tasking. Fluent in English.
